If your computer loses connection with your SmartBoard, here are some steps you can take before emailing tech support or if support is not immediately available.

Step 1: Check the light on the right side of your board.

Step 2: If it is unlit, the board is not getting power.

  • Check that it is plugged into the wall or
  • Check that the USB cable is connected to the computer (Some boards get their power from the USB port on your computer.)

Step 3: If it is solid red, the board is getting power but not communicating with the computer.

  • Disconnect the SmartBoard from power, reconnect and check the status of the LED.

Step 4: If the light is blinking green, it is getting power and connected to your computer but not communicating properly with your computer

  • Disconnect the SmartBoard from power, reconnect and check the status of the LED.

Step 5: If you use bluetooth to communicate from your computer to your smartBoard, check the LED on the bluetooth dongle.

Step 6: If the LED on the Dongle is solid red, disconnect it from the computer and plug back into the computer.

Step 7: Check the bluetooth connector LED on the back of your SmartBoard. If it is Red, use one of the SmartBoard pens to reset the Bluetooth connection by pressing in the black button below the LED for 10 seconds and then hold in the button on the bluetooth dongle plugged into your computer. LEDs on the smartboard and computer dongle should blink until they both become solid green.

Step 8: If your board is constantly losing its orientation
